"today in the bay's" christie smith is live in concord right now and has the rest of that story. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. what a way to start the week. this is not just expensive, it's widespread. it's on several blocks here in concord. dozens of tires slashes and in most cases we're talking about all four of the tires on the vehicle like this suv. also the van there in the driveway. that one was hit. a couple more down the street. two other cars and then across the road clayton road from where we are standing bel air drive there were some tires slashed there. concord police first heard of this sunday morning around 7:00 a.m. that's when some of the car owners phoned in with the problem. at least 60 cars with their tires slashed in all and the more they looked around, the worst it got. glacier drive, bel air drive, and some of the streets actually connect here. it looks like whoever did this may have just

's this time and concord. a 14 year-old boy is in the hospital this morning after by car while crossing solano way in concord. it happened yesterday are around 1:30 p.m.. if you know the area of this is solano and grant rate near 680. authorities said the boy and a walking in a crosswalk on salon away when a toyota saigon struck him. police said the driver is not believe seven drunk or speeding at the time of the crash. the boy is now being treated for life-threatening injuries at children's hospital in oakland. >> president obama is expected to announce in a state of the union address tonight that 34,000 troops will be able to come home from afghanistan next year. at the half the u.s. troops currently in afghanistan. the decision marks the next phase of the president's plan to in the u.s.-led war in afghanistan by the end of 2014. wilson of president obama will focus on boosting job reducing gun violence and revamping immigration. present obama will then travel three states over three days starting tomorrow to drum up support supports our policy proposals. apple ceo tim cook will be among tho

city 58. napa you hit 57. concord and livermore only 55 despite that afternoon sunshine and in the city it only hit 54 degrees. the setup in the atmosphere is this. we had our front move through this morning. you got a little bit of morning rainfall. then we got the clearing. now there's an upper-level area of low pressure. see the counterclockwise swirl at the oregon california border? that's heading in our direction. the shower activity will increase and coverage will increase. we likely will see showers around until about mid-morning to lunchtime tomorrow. so showers through the morning commute. enjoy no, sir showers because after that, i -- enjoy those showers because after that i can't find rain in the forecast for a week and a half. high pressure will stay anchored to our west. another long dry stretch begins tomorrow. so the rain is out of here by lunchtime tomorrow. the weekend will be sunny, chilly mornings, lows near freezing away from the water. highs tomorrow chilly. san jose the average of 63, tomorrow only 54 for you

. and pretty quickly, 39 in concord. 46 in novato. and down here into san jose, close to the 30s at this hour. 41 degrees. let's get you outside of the live hd sky camera network. we have lower level moisture showing up on the sky camera network, but it is all clear from the south bay right up to san francisco on the san bruno mountain camera shot. right towards the bay bridge, look at that. they're testing the bay lights tonight. i had a view of that in the city the past couple of nights as well that looks very spectacular. the camera shaking around. we have winds 5 to 10 miles per hour. it's only giving us a slight windchill tonight. talk about major windchill to the northeast. i have never seen the radar with so much widespread heavy snow than what we're seeing right now. again, historic on many levels as this blizzard could be one for the record books here. maybe not even seen anything this bad since 1978. as we mentioned, for boston, about 3 feet of snow there back into new york 1 to 2 feet with with the winds topping 75 miles per hour. so do expect mayor delays no matter where you're tr

including concord, san rafael and also redwood city. in the city of san francisco our computer predicting about .25" of additional rainfall. looking live outside currently over san jose, you're in between weather systems with sunshine. we have mainly sunny skies over the beautiful backdrop of the bay bridge. oakland at 57, san francisco 52. and santa rosa currently 51 degrees. we had a boundary move through earlier today. you got the showers this morning. then we got that break. that's right there break just about over. this low pressure area has to move through tonight. when it does, showers will pick up. there's a slight chance of a thunderstorm along the immediate coastline. once that low pressure area moves out, we'll have showers through the morning commute but once it's gone, high pressure is going to build in and we're going to have several more dry days in a row. so if you are a fan of rainfall, implore you to enjoy tonight and tomorrow. the tap will be turned off again. it will be chilly over the weekend and dry with highs in the 50s and l

today. we'll get chilly tonight. 36 in san jose. livermore, 34. concord, 36. fairfield, 33. as you would guess, the radar. kpix 5 hi-def doppler radar. it's dry because of that big dome of high pressure has gone nowhere. if anything, it is going to move closer to us, expand in size and get even stronger and make us up near 70 degrees, get us to about 10 degrees above average by the end of this week. it's off to our west right now. we're still getting that northerly wind. mornings will be chilly and afternoons will be sunny. low 60's is average this time of year. as that high gets closer to us, on friday, that's when we will be at our warmest. even san jose may hit 70 degrees on friday. that will be the warmest day. we'll stay in the 30's at night inland. rainfall, i don't see it for this week or likely the middle of next week. san jose, exactly average, 63 tomorrow. all about the sunshine up and down the area. sonoma tomorrow, 63 with sunshine. a couple degrees milder on wednesday and thursday. friday is that warm day, approac
